I am a former Christian who deconverted a few years ago when I learned about the true horrors of biblical teachings and the frightening effects they have on people. I have a number of good friends who are Christian, but like me, they think that this religion is something it is not, and out of sincere love for them as my friends, I live in hope that experience will teach them the truth, as it did to me.

Websites like yours are a valuable asset. I say this because I know for a fact that this kind of information can tilt wavering quasi-believers in the right direction, and even begin a concealed but unstoppable rot in the blind and pernicious faith of unthinking extremists.

It is a very sad fact that this powerful religion has gained its power almost entirely through violence, forced conversions, slave-trades and the destruction of comparatively peaceful, nature-loving spiritualities that would never have caused the misery the world has sadly had to endure.

as the son of a congregationalist minister and bible scholar, i was highly impressed by the depth of textual and historical research you employ at your web site.

what rather disappointed me was the straw dog collection of hate email you posted - while somewhat amusing, it seems to indicate that a rational discussion on the subject, i.e. review of sources, etc. is impossible. i can't imagine that this is your point of view, as you clearly take great care to examine every claim to the historicity and origins of biblical literature.
