JUST ONE DECADE IN THE LONG AND MALEVOLENT HISTORY OF THE CHURCH, 2004 - 2014
For centuries, sexual crimes perpetrated by the clergy could neither be spoken of nor acknowledged.
This taboo began to disappear in the later decades of the 20th century, when it was revealed that the Catholic church in particular – and throughout the world – harboured thousands of serial sexual abusers, particularly at its orphanages and at institutions run by religious orders.
The scandal of sexual abuse was compounded by official attempts to cover up the crimes, hinder investigation and protect the offending priests by reassignment to new parishes.
Crimes, perpetrated over decades, were exposed in the United States, Canada, Ireland, Philippines, United Kingdom, Mexico, Belgium, France, Germany Australia, Austria, Tanzania, New Zealand, etc.
The scandals cost the Church dearly. Estimated settlements in the USA alone exceed $2 billion.
Psychological, emotional and physical abuse widened the destructive influence of the Church even further.
Psychological abuse includes subjugation through fear, harmful manipulation and indoctrination, and phobias of sinfulness or 'demon possession'.
Physical abuse includes beatings, confinement, hard labour and neglect.

As many as 300,000 babies may have been stolen and sold for adoption.
Baby trafficking - Ireland
Between the 1950s - 1990s, an estimated 60,000 babies and infants, were taken by the Catholic church from unwed mothers, who were told the children had "died". The clergy even held fake funerals. In reality, the infants were effectively sold for adoption in the USA by approved Catholic couples who made generous donations to the church.
